J\u00e1 foi utilizado como orfanato, cemit\u00e9rio, col\u00e9gio e resid\u00eancia das Irm\u00e3s Carmelitas. Sua constru\u00e7\u00e3o teve in\u00edcio no final do S\u00e9culo XVI, a pedido de Vasco Fernandes Coutinho Filho, 2\u00ba Donat\u00e1rio da Capitania do Esp\u00edrito Santo. Sua arquitetura original era no estilo jesu\u00edtico de linhas retas. Entre 1744 e 1784 o convento passou por reformas, alterando seu estilo para o colonial barroco. Al\u00e9m do Convento de S\u00e3o Francisco, os demais monumentos monitorados s\u00e3o:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u2013 Catedral Metropolitana de Vit\u00f3ria<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u2013 Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Carmo<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u2013 Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Ros\u00e1rio<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u2013 Theatro Carlos Gomes<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u2013 Igreja de S\u00e3o Gon\u00e7alo<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">\u2013 Capela de Santa Luzia<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Quem nos acompanhou foram a Priscila (Estudante de Hist\u00f3ria) e a Yara (T\u00e9cnica em Guia de Turismo). A visita \u00e9 feita em 3 ambientes: um sal\u00e3o principal, logo ap\u00f3s a entrada, onde h\u00e1 diversos pain\u00e9is contando a hist\u00f3ria do convento, as reformas e visitas de autoridades da Igreja Cat\u00f3lica; o oss\u00e1rio no p\u00e1tio externo e a Capela de Nossa Senhora das Neves. \u00c9 uma visita r\u00e1pida, mas com muita hist\u00f3ria e curiosidades bem interessantes!<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial, helvetica, sans-serif;\">Na apresenta\u00e7\u00e3o dos pain\u00e9is, descobrimos que o convento abrigou a Irmandade de S\u00e3o Benedito e foi requisitado pelas autoridades civis para diversas finalidades, como orfanato, cemit\u00e9rio, r\u00e1dio, col\u00e9gio e resid\u00eancia das Irm\u00e3s Carmelitas. Constru\u00edda no s\u00e9culo XIX, era utilizada como capela mortu\u00e1ria at\u00e9 o in\u00edcio do s\u00e9culo XIX.
